Consider:
"...that two wrongs never make a right,
But that three lefts do.
" ---- Butler Shaffer Dear Folks,
Montevideo continues to tease us with warmer weather -- winter's end must be in sight!
But regardless of the weather or the season, the
Uruguay Info Exchange meets at La Papoñita every Sunday at 14:00 (2 pm)! So come join us this Sunday, the 1st of September, the first month of Spring, to meet new people, renew acquaintances with those you already know, and to discuss all manner of topics--whatever interests you.
This week's items of note include:
1. As promised last week, attached is more information about the
CALEDONIAN BALL. Please note two things: The ball is actually on
Saturday, September 7th; and the
DEADLINE is
Tuesday, September 3rd! 2. One of the topics of discussion at last week's meeting was the
rebate of
IVA when tourists (not residents) make payments using
foreign credit or debit cards. According to this website http://www.turismo.gub.uy/informacion-turistica/beneficios-a-los-turistas this is being
extended to the end of July, 2014.
3. It appears
cameras are coming to
Cordón:
http://www.elpais.com.uy/informacion/interior-instalara-camaras-plaza-seregni.html. And other parts of Montevideo?
4. We will be able to welcome back one of our own soon, but
she needs a place to stay. The dates are October/November to March/April. A
furnished rental flat in Pocitos/Punta Carretas area would be ideal, suitable for one plus occasional guests. One bedroom would suffice. Up to the US$1000 would be the maximum. Some place around the Ombu would be splendid, but anywhere in the area will be fine.
