Dear Folks,

Things are going well at La Papoñita, as we try many different dishes, and the waiter is getting to know us, so maybe our magical Montevideo Restaurant Tour is over, at least for a while. Our waiter put us at the far end on Sunday, and put the heater right next to us, so it was warmer and quieter. Come check it out for yourself on Sunday, June 30, at 14:00 (2 pm).


Other items for your consideration include:

1. The two furniture opportunites are coming to end at the end of the month: The first the auction, and the second a sale.

2. After having letters with tape on them refused by the post office, the question arose as to the rules for mailing letters and packages. The answer was provided by a helpful participant:

PACKAGES UP TO 2KGS....MUST BE OPENED 4 CONTENT....CUSTOM DECLARATION COMPLETED IF INTERNATIONAL

AFTER 2 KGS...COULD BE SEALED BUT CUSTOM DECLARATION COMPLETED AND CUSTOMER IS RESPONSIBLE 4 CONTENT/SHIPPING

ENVELOPES NO TAPE!!

TAPE USED MUST BE THE "CLEAR" TYPE NOT DARK..EG. DUCK TAPE

POST OFFICE SAID NOT 2 WORRY ABOUT TAPE/SEALING...THEY WILL PROVIDE IT IF NECESSARY!!...FULL SERVICE!!

3. The responses to the query about coconut oil were:

a. There is coconut oil for sale at the Natural Pharmacy 21 de Septiembre, 2967..............more or less across the street from Ameretto.

b. Coconut oil is available here but all I have found is not pure and probably not good for human consumption.

I try to get everyone coming to bring a bottle or two.

4. Newcomers need some stuff and asked:

We would like couple of reading lights, a floor lamp and a small bookcase. Someone told us to go to the English store. What do you think?

5. J & M Sausage Factory Now has a new smoke house and
new products such as Kiełbasa Polska (apple wood smoked Polish sausage), smoked summer sausage (available now, next batch to have extra garlic), honey cured, apple smoked bacon, which can be sampled from Hotel VIA Park’s breakfast menu.

J & M’s future plans: smoked white fish, smoked salmon, & smoked pork chops!

6. And more info on the flat for rent in December and January:

The apartment faces the park, in Villa Biarritz, very near Club Bigua. The apartment has 2 bedroom and 2 bathrooms, and also a very large (90 mtr) terrace with a parilla, which is fabulous during the summer.

The location, one block from 21 de Septembre, is perfect and within walking distance from everything: restaurants, grocery stores, movie theatres, pharmacy, McDonalds, drycleaners etc. etc.

The apartment has a 24 hour doorman, wi fi internet, television and a washing machine, and clothes line.

The apartment is child friendly, with toys for children, and the backyard/terrace and park.

Photos can be seen by going to airbnb, searching in "Montevideo," then using keyword "Charla," and viewing the photos on the "Apt. with garden and park" listing.

The apartment is available for the months of December and January.
