Dulce de Leche Sauce

Dulce de Leche Sauce YIELD: 1 CUP (8 OUNCES, 240 ML)
1 qt milk
1/4 C granulated sugar
1/4 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla extract
PROCEDURE
1 Over medium high heat, combine milk, sugar, and baking soda. Bring to a boil.
2 Reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally. As it begins to thicken, stir periodically and cook until caramel-colored and very thick (caramel sauce), about 1 hour.
3 Stir in vanilla extract.
